Reside unveils partnership with Daniel Morcombe Foundation

Reside Communities is proud to announce that we have joined forces with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to help build safer communities for Australian children.

The new partnership will see Reside become a supporter of the organisation and residents at our communities join in the annual Day for Daniel event – Australia’s largest child safety and awareness day.

It is also a recognition of the increasingly vital role older Australians and especially grandparents can play in educating children about their personal safety.

Bruce and Denise Morcombe joined Reside CEO Glen Brown, and Reside Chief Operating Officer Craig Syphers, to announce the partnership at our Brookland Robertson community.

“We are delighted to be lending our support to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and pay tribute to the amazing contribution Bruce and Denise have made to community safety over the past 19 years,” Glen said.

“At Reside, safety is also our number one priority when it comes to creating exceptional retirement communities that allow our residents the freedom to enjoy their lives,” he said.

“For so many of our residents, that also means spending quality time and sharing knowledge with their much-loved grandchildren.

“Our new partnership with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and participation in the Day for Daniel event is the perfect way for Reside Communities to make our own contribution to this incredibly important cause.”

Founders welcome Reside support

Bruce and Denise Morcombe expressed their appreciation for the Reside Communities support and highlighted the critical link between grandparents and child safety education.

“Grandparent carers are the largest group of kinship carers in Australia and their numbers are growing,” Denise said.

“We have developed resources especially for grandparents to help them talk about safety with their grandchildren and recognise the signs that a child may be in an unsafe situation,” she said.

Bruce Morcombe said there were many other ways older Australians could make an important contribution to keeping kids safe.

“Retirees often have more time on their hands to chat to their grandchildren about what’s happening in their lives and pass on wisdom gained over many years of life,” he said.

Residents join in Day for Daniel

Residents at our Samford Grove and Brookland Robertson communities are also very excited about the new partnership with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

They will all be wearing red and doing a walk on Day for Daniel this year as their way of contributing to this vital community program

“I spend a lot to time in our villages and getting to know residents, and the biggest common denominator is always how proud they are of their grandchildren and how invested they are in their happiness and wellbeing,” Craig said.

“So I can’t think of a better way for everyone at Reside to do our bit for community safety, and especially the safety of our young people, than by joining forces with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.”
